The Black and Silver Room at Casino Estoril welcomes, on September 30th, at 10 pm, Martirio and Chano Domínguez Trio.
The experienced artists take the stage to present the memorable songs from the album “Coplas de Madruga” in a fun and exciting performance. Kátia Guerreiro, currently considered one of the ambassadors of fado in the world, will be the guest artist.
“Coplas de Madruga” is the first copla-jazz fusion album. It was composed by the iconic duo Martirio and Chano Dominguez. In 2005, they received the award for Best Jazz Album for “Acoplados” and are currently celebrating their silver anniversary, for the first time in Portugal.
Martirio defines herself as a “kind of musical archaeologist”, which is confirmed throughout her career in her work as one of the artists who rescued traditional Spanish music and gave it her “modern and avant-garde” style, Martirio is a versatile artist and a true performer who interprets music with her voice and body.
Chano Dominguez is one of the jazz pianists most sought after by flamenco, his agility between flamenco and jazz rhythms has earned him several Latin Grammy nominations and works with artists such as Enrique Morente, Jorge Pardo, Paco de Lucía, Herbie Hancock, among others.
In this project, she is accompanied by Horacio Fumero, a renowned double bassist, distinguished with several jazz awards, including Best Jazz Artist (2006) by Revista Derribo. David Xirgu, drummer and founding member of several very important jazz groups in the 80s/90s is currently a music professor at ESMUC and the Conservatorio Superior del Liceo.
