Portugal falls to 37th place in the ‘ranking’ of digital competitiveness

The results of the study were released today and place Portugal below the middle of the table among 63 economies analyzed, behind Spain, Lithuania, Czech Republic, and Poland, among others. In the first place is the United States, followed by Singapore and Denmark.

In 2019 Portugal had been in 34th place, but, despite the decrease of three positions, it registers improvements in digital competitiveness in the Knowledge (33rd place) and Technology (38th) indices. But that was not enough for a rise in the ranking, because it ended up being overshadowed by other countries with better performance.

The digital transformation is a bet of the Government that included the theme among the pillars of development of the resilience plan that was recently presented.

In the Knowledge indicator the national economy presents a better performance in the ranking, despite having dropped two positions, and in Technology, despite having improved in all aspects, it maintained the 38th place.
