- “The Last of Us: Part I” is the #1 video game in Portugal
With the much-anticipated debut of “The Last Of Us” series, demand for the popular Playstation game on which the series is based soared 139% between January 11th and 17th, and is, at this point, the console game most wanted in Portugal.
The adaptation of the story of Joel and Ellie, two survivors in a post-apocalyptic world, became one of the most anticipated series of 2023 and the debut of the first episode – which gathered audience and critical consensus and became the second-best debut from HBO since 2010, behind “House of Dragon” – has driven many Portuguese to buy the game.
“Between January 11th and 17th, compared to the previous week, there was an increase in demand for all editions of “The Last of Us”. This is a game that has always been very popular, but with the debut of the series, the fever is back”, reveals Ricardo Pereira, marketing director at KuantoKusta.
Demand was greater for the Playstation 5 version of “The Last of Us: Part I” (+138.98%), which is also the game that occupies the TOP of video games most sought after by consumers.
The “The Last of Us Remastered (PS4)” version, on the other hand, had an increase in demand of 90%, occupying the 23rd place in the ranking.
The sequel, “The Last of Us Part II (PS4)” occupies the 8th place in the ranking of most wanted, having registered an increase in demand of 37.14%.
“Fans of the game have been anticipating the arrival of the series with great anticipation and have contributed to the hype that has built up around this debut. Those who saw the episode without ever having played it were curious to try the game and this was evident in the demand. An example of this was the 400% increase in demand for The Last of Us Part II for PS4 on the day the series debuted, January 15, compared to the previous day”, concludes Ricardo Pereira.
Considered one of the best console games ever, “The Last of Us” was released in 2013 for the Playstation 3, having already been re-edited in improved versions for the Playstation 4 and 5 and also has a sequel, “The Last of Us – Part II”.
