Bluegrass is already this weekend
13, 14 and 15 September - community festival and free
Bluegrass music is back at Traffaria for the third edition of this free community festival that involves local spaces and populations, in a logic of volunteering and union.
Bluegrass Traffair returns from September 13 to 15, 2024 to celebrate once again an intercultural meeting focused on bluegrass music, a popular and traditional American genre, with roots in the Appalachian mountains and whose origins lie in the fusion of jazz and African-American blues with Anglo-Saxon folk music.
The poster features six bands, five internationals and one Portuguese, in an edition in which the musical fusion with other styles will be highlighted. In addition to concerts, one of the main features of Bluegrass Trafficking are jam sessions that bring together musicians from all over the world, in a spirit of sharing and musical communion.

“Jams are as important to those in the Trafficking Center as concerts. They happen everywhere and the musicians, who come from all four corners of the world, love to come here and stay here,” emphasizes João Horta and André Dal, two of the main organizers.
The performances will be divided between the Largo de la Rep repúblicablica, Coreto, Largo do Wello Novo, the Traffarian Musical Recreational Society, the Traffarian Sports Recreations (also known as Casino), the former Traffaria Prison and St. Peter’s Parish Church.
In addition, the festival always has several parallel activities that make it a unique event throughout the country. There will be music masterclasses with various artists, who will be able to teach you to play banjo, bandolim, violin or guitar in an intimate atmosphere; Clogging dance workshops; spontaneous street musical moments; local gastronomy; traditional games; peddy papers; street animations; ecological workshops; and guided tours, in partnership with the Centre of Archaeology of Almada, for the main monuments of the Traffaria area, which help to tell the history of the region.
One of the great news of this year is that there will be a camping area for the festival to welcome more visitors.
