“Klaus”, by Spanish director Sergio Pablos, is one of the four films nominated in the category of Best Animated Film by the EFA, to which also compete “Josep”, by the French Aurel, “Calamity, joins an emphasis by Martha Jane Cannary”, by the French Rémi Chayé, and “Nos ili zagovor netakikh” (“The Nose or the Conspiracy of Mavericks”, English title), by Russian Andrey Khrzhanovskiy.
The four nominees for the category of Best Animated Film were chosen by a committee composed of the French composer Béatrice Thiriet, the Romanian director Anca Damian, the Spanish producer Antonio Saura and, on behalf of the European Film Association Animation, by Portuguese producer Diogo Carvalho, British producer Camilla Deakin, and Luxembourg institutional representative Norbert Laporte.
The 33rd EFA handover ceremony, scheduled for December 12, will take place online. “Klaus“, which was nominated for the Oscars this year, debuted on November 15 last year on the Netflix platform.
“Klaus” was performed in full at SPA Studios, in Madrid, with a team that brings together people from more than 20 countries, including two Portuguese: Sérgio Martins, in the direction of animation, and Edgar Martins, in the script department.
Sérgio Martins won the Best Animation Direction in a Feature Film, for the film “Klaus“, at the Annie awards, considered the ‘Oscars’ of animation cinema, which are awarded annually by the International Animation Film Society.
