Parques de Sintra nominated for “World’s Leading Conservation Company” at the 2025 World Travel Awards
Online voting for the "Tourism Oscars" runs until October 26th and is open to the general public
Parques de Sintra is nominated for the “World’s Leading Conservation Company” category at the World Travel Awards. The company, which has won twelve awards consecutively between 2013 and 2024, is once again competing for the so-called “Tourism Oscars,” which are one of the most prestigious distinctions for companies in the sector.
Since 1993—the year they were created—the World Travel Awards have recognised excellence in all sectors of the tourism industry and have become a globally recognised seal of quality.
In the year celebrating twenty-five years of history—a trajectory marked by the achievement of more than six dozen national and international awards, including the World Travel Awards—Parques de Sintra faces the future with renewed ambition. João Sousa Rego, Chairman of the company’s Board of Directors, emphasizes: “With a management model unique at the national level and teams that fulfill with excellence and enthusiasm the mission of recovering, requalifying, conserving, researching, and ensuring the public enjoyment of the valuable heritage under Parques de Sintra’s care, the company is currently an international benchmark in its field, as evidenced by the numerous distinctions it has received. We look to the past with pride, but also with a strong sense of responsibility. Our vision projects the company as a model for the future, testing sustainability solutions that preserve natural and built heritage for future generations; developing innovative projects; creating distinctive cultural and tourism experiences that authentically value heritage; and deepening community connection through partnerships with the local association and business sector.”
Voting for the 32nd edition of the World Travel Awards is open to both tourism professionals and the general public and is now open on the organisation’s official website until October 26th.

Parques de Sintra – Monte da Lua, S.A. (PSML) is a fully publicly owned company, established in 2000, following the UNESCO classification of the Sintra Cultural Landscape as a World Heritage Site. Over the past ten years, the areas under the company’s management (Park and National Palace of Pena, National Palaces of Sintra and Queluz, Chalet of the Countess of Edla, Moorish Castle, Palace and Gardens of Monserrate, Convent of the Capuchos, and the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art) have received approximately 25 million visitors.
Parques de Sintra has won eleven World Travel Awards for Best Conservation Company in the World, which it won consecutively between 2013 and 2023.
Parques de Sintra’s shareholders are the Directorate General of Treasury and Finance (representing the State), the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests, Turismo de Portugal, and the Sintra City Council.
