XII Meeting of Portuguese Language Writers in Praia

“Literature, Freedom and Inclusion” is the theme that will mark the XII edition of the Meeting of Portuguese Language Writers that will take in the City of Praia, from September 5 to 8, at the National Library of Cape Verde and the Hotel Trópico.

The official opening will feature a speech by the President of the Republic of Cape Verde, José Maria Neves, and the closing by the Minister of Culture and Creative Industries, Augusto Veiga.

This year’s edition will pay tribute to the centenary of the birth of Amílcar Cabral and the 5th centenary of the birth of Luís Vaz de Camões.

This edition will feature the participation of the following writers:

• Angola and Macau – Jorge Arrimar;
• Brazil – Domício Proença Filho (video) and Fernanda Ribeiro (winner of the UCCLA-CMLisboa Literary Revelation Award – New Talents, New Works in Portuguese Language 2024);
• Cape Verde – António Correia e Silva, Arménio Vieira, Augusta Teixeira, Cheila Delgado, Commander Pedro Pires, Daniel Mendes, Germano Almeida, José Luiz Tavares, Mário Lúcio, Nardi Sousa, Paulo Veríssimo and Vera Duarte;
• Galicia – Alfredo Ferreiro Salgueiro;
• Guinea-Bissau – Tony Tcheka;
• Mozambique – Luís Carlos Patraquim;
• Portugal – Inês Barata Raposo, Isabel Alçada (video), José Pires Laranjeira and Rita Marnoto;
• Sao Tome and Principe – Olinda Beja;
• East Timor – Luís Cardoso.
