With fixed roots in the historic center of Lisbon, the 5-star boutique hotel, the first to appear in the capital, won the most recent edition of the Publituris Portugal Travel Awards.
The Bairro Alto Hotel was considered the “Best City Hotel” in the Publituris Portugal Travel Awards 2023, awarded at the Montebelo Mosteiro de Alcobaça Historic Hotel, in Alcobaça.
The 18th edition of the awards, organized annually by the newspaper Publituris, took into account 174 nominees who competed in a total of 22 categories. The nominees were appointed by the editorial staff of this publication, and the winners were voted by the jury, but also by subscribers to the paper edition and by subscribers to the daily newsletter.
In October 2022, it was the turn of the hotel to be elevated to “Best Boutique Hotel in Portugal” according to the World Travel Awards, considered the “Tourism Oscars”. The hotel has already achieved this title before, in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013. In the vast curriculum of the Publituris Portugal Travel Awards 2023 are still other distinctions awarded following the World Travel Awards – it was even elected as a Reference Hotel ( Landmark) in Europe for three consecutive years (2015, 2016, and 2017).
An integral part of the Lisbon scene, the Bairro Alto Hotel is open to the local community. It has 87 rooms and suites, where timeless style is omnipresent.
The original design remains and continues to define the essence of the hotel, which is also the result of the architectural mastery of Souto de Moura, winner of the Pritzker Prize in 2011 (the most recent intervention dates from 2019). The interiors, of a significant aesthetic range, are a reflection of the work carried out by Atelier Bastir, with the exception of the decoration of the BAHR, which bears the signature of Thestudio.
The Bairro Alto Hotel includes the BAHR&Terrace, whose kitchen is under the command of executive chef Bruno Rocha, and the Rooftop., on the sixth floor, facing one of the best views of Lisbon.
