Djavan is returning to Portugal on two dates to note in the 2024 agenda: July 10th at the Festival Jardins do Marquês – Oeiras Valley in Oeiras, and July 12th at the Super Bock Arena – Pavilhão Rosa Mota in Porto.

The Jardins do Marquês – Oeiras Valley Festival returns in 2024 with a line-up that is now unmissable. After confirmation from the iconic Patti Smith, Djavan joins the idyllic summer nights, next to Jardins do Marquês, in Oeiras.

Djavan Caetano Viana simply became Djavan for the world of music. The musician, born in Maceió, Alagoas, on January 27, 1949, is one of the great artists in Brazil (and the world) and one of the main representatives of MPB. His passion for music started early and at the age of 16, he was already performing in bars and nightclubs in his hometown. In 1973 he moved to Rio de Janeiro in search of opportunities in the artistic world and, since then, he has never stopped. Djavan has been recognized by critics since his first album A Voz, o Violão, a Música de Djavan released in 1976, thanks to his originality and the diversity that has always inhabited his songs, with influences ranging from pop to jazz, from music African to Latin music. Themes such as “Flor de Lis”, “Oceano”, “Se”, “Eu Te Devoro”, “Lilás” or “Samurai” will forever remain in the history of Brazilian music as undisputed classics. With more than 20 albums throughout a brilliant career, the musician also has several awards under his belt, including a Latin Grammy, and an extensive list of collaborations with national and international stars: Stevie Wonder, Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânia are just a few examples.

After his success in 2023, Djavan returns to the stage in 2024 with the “D” tour. Homónimo of his 25th studio album, released in August 2022, this show features songs from that same work, such as “Num Mundo de Paz” and “Iluminado”, but also many other hits from all phases of his discography. Although he always renews the list of classics from one tour to the next, songs like “Sina” or “Flor de Lis” have a permanent place in every concert. The artist once again brings together a cast of luxury musicians to accompany him. On stage, in addition to Djavan’s voice and guitar, there are also Marcelo Mariano (bass), Felipe Alves (drums), João Castilho (guitar), Paulo Calasans (piano, keyboard), Renato Fonseca (keyboard), Jessé Sadoc (trumpet, flugelhorn) and Marcelo Martins (saxophone, flute). The singer also bets on the scenography by Gringo Cardia, the lighting by Césio Lima and Mari Pitta and the lighting design by Serginho Almeida, repeating successful partnerships carried out in previous concerts. The team is completed with Marina Franco as wardrobe director and guest stylist Lucas Leão. This show, which showcases the diversity of the Brazilian people, promises to win over the Portuguese public, on July 10th, at the next edition of Festival Jardins do Marquês – Oeiras Valley, and on July 12th at the Super Bock Arena – Pavilhão Rosa Mota in Porto.
