A new edition of the Fado Montevideo Festival arrives in the Uruguayan capital on November 19th at the Solis Theatre.
The event, which aims to promote Fado and Portuguese culture, will be dedicated to honouring the 100th anniversary of guitarist Carlos Paredes and will provide an opportunity to see Carminho perform live, presenting his album, Portuguesa.
In addition to the concerts, the Festival also features a screening of the film “Perpetual Movements” and the conference “Carlos Paredes and the Guitar of Coimbra.”

Completing 15 editions since its inception in Madrid in 2011, the International Fado Festival, titled this year “100 Years Carlos Paredes” (in honour of the centenary of the exceptional Portuguese guitarist), promotes fado—and, consequently, the Portuguese language and culture—in 20 cities across 14 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
As a whole, the Fado Festival program offers a rich and diverse experience that celebrates the music, culture, and legacy of Carlos Paredes, one of the great masters of the Portuguese guitar.
The Carlos Paredes Centenary Commemorative Program is the result of a partnership between the Portuguese Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports, the Lisbon City Council, and Lisboa Cultura, through the Fado Museum.
